Sit down, take a deep breath and brace yourselves for some very exciting news. We are thrilled to announce the launch of our online store, starting with the coveted Spring Summer 2010 collection ‘Noir et Blanc’.

We will have limited stock of our best selling styles, and on occasion will feature exclusive styles available only through the toietmoi.com.au shopping cart. We will also have end of season clearances with special discounts for our dedicated fans. We have kept our payments, shipping and returns policies simple, so dealing with us will always be a pleasure.

I have a friend in Paris that has just graduated from student and assistant photographer to creative extraordinaire that is beginning to shoot some amazing editorial and lifestyle shots. Her name is Victoire LeTarnec and her photos are très belle. These snaps of Paris are so inspiring, if I wasn’t so busy I would be on a plane to Paris tomorrow. While we all wait with anticipation for the cold snap, and watch our newly purchased winter wardrobes gather dust with disappointment, the Toi et Moi Transeasonal collection is being packed up ready to be delivered into store. For those of you asking what a transeasonal collection is, well, it’s meant to take your wardrobe effortlessly from Winter to Spring… but as we are still blessed with day after day of sunshine you may as well go out and grab some of our Transeasonal collection to wear now. The CouCou Tunic featured in the May Cosmopolitan is just one of the great pieces in the range – in store May 1.

If I could have a dollar for each time I have been asked ‘How did you begin your fashion business?’ I would be semi-rich. Not full of money, but most likely would not have to think twice about self-indulgent purchases.

For me it’s been about learning on the job. I started with no experience at all, and looking back 10 years,  would have loved a hand, or a little background knowledge so I could have avoided some of the mistakes I made along the way. Now there is an an amazing forum for emerging designers – the Fashion Forward Festival – that travels from state to state in Australia, showcasing up and coming Australian designers, with one outstanding designer having the chance to be selected by the official panel to win a $40,000 mentoring prize. I understand the prize includes a $5000 cash grant, a website, international sourcing trip, a marketing and sales course and 3 months PR representation by a Sydney based PR company. AMAZING!

While Toi et Moi is too established to be a part of the FFF, I think anyone out there that wants to design AND have a successful fashion business should get in contact with the foundation. The first festival is from May 7th-9th in Sydney. More info at www.fashionforwardfestival.com.au
